Lazy Hazy Days. Part two figures and design development

For lazy hazy days I was asked to draw figures to aid me in the design fase. I was taken by the allure of burlesque and went a little crazy with with feathers.

In this illustration I have drawn one of the figures preforming in a Martin bowl, she also has a feather fan and mask.

Here I have placed one of my figures on a elephant after all no great show would be complete with out a the glamour of the circus. Also I added marabou feathers as part of her costume
After consulting with my tutor I decided my figures looked short on conparison to other fashion illustrations. So I redesigned them with longer more glamorous legs.

I have tried to keep them curvy whilst elongating them.

Each design has a completely different face, hair shoes and accessories.

So now to the colors a palette of blues and blacks was taken from the Louis Vuitton SS14 shown and reinterpreted. My designs do follow their theme of showgirls and fair grounds but in a loosely related burlesque kind of way.

Fishnets and feathers what a fine combination!

Even though hues of purple where not present in the Vuitton show I felt the collection needed a zing of another colour and purple is not so far removed from blue. Right?

Soon the third and final part of lazy hazy days will arrive with finished desing boards and more pretty pictures.... Stay tuned.
