Art Nouveau.

Over the past couple of weeks in our fashion history classes we have looked into the Edwardian era and inparticular the Art Neuvou movement. Their style of illustration and art of the time really inspired me. I love how the Neauvou imagery shows women in a natural earthly way. Curves and movement are emphasised.

The image above shows movement even though still, it has a earthy natural feel. It's beautiful, it inspired me to create my interpretation of it.

I have tried to capture the flowing lines of the original image that I liked so much. I only wish my figure was fuller, but it makes them look more glamarous to be thinner apparently.

I have incorporated stylised flowers and corners to make it look more like the original. I have tried my best to recreate the paleness of the skin and the firery hair.

This page I have gone into more detail with the accessories for my illustration. I have recreated the crescent shape in the original image for a belt buckle. Also I have tried to show the flowing lines of flower stems for the straps of my sandals. Also I have included a back view of the garment.

I was asked to include a pattern in my illustrtion. I thought I would show a correlation with the original Image, so I used the crescent again but only in a subtle way on the garment.
